Bora Bora Scooter hire

Hi,
We will be visiting Bora Bora during a cruise and would like to hire a scooter to do our own tour around the island. Is this recommended? Are scooters readily available at the port or should we prebook? Do you have a preferred operator that we should use?

Many thanks really looking forward to exploring this lovely island.

Avis, Europcar and Farepiti Rentacar have offices in Vaitape for renting out scooters. You will want to book ahead as there are not many vehicles for hire and the busiest days on the island are when the cruise ships are docked. Buggy rental (seats 2 people) is also available for getting around Bora Bora and is cheaper than car hire.

Your driver’s license from your home country will be honored in French Polynesia. Driving is on the right-hand side of the road.

If you are planning on hiring a scooter and traveling around the island independantly have a look at our guide to Bora Bora attractions on the circle island road.

Personally, our favorite way to spend a day in Bora Bora must include getting out on its stunning lagoon. I'd recommend to look at the Bora Bora lagoon excursions available.

We hope you have a fabulous day in Paradise!
