Insects during winter months

by Fran
(California, USA)

Are there a lot of insects (mosquitoes) during winter months? Are those huts air conditioned - silly question, I know?

Bora Bora Island Guide's Response:
Hi Fran,

The winter months in Bora Bora are the dryest time of year, so there are less mosquitoes than during the summer wet season. There is still occasional rain during this time as it is the tropics. The trade winds blow during the winter months so it prevents the islands from getting too hot. Many people prefer this time of year to visit Bora Bora.

The over water bungalows are air conditioned. They have all the modern ammenties that any well furnished hotel room has - but over the water! They really are huts of luxury sitting on the water.
